Refugee and Immigration Pracitioners' Network

The Refugee and Immigration practitioners’ Network holds monthly meetings during term to foster the sharing of legal knowledge between refugee and immigration practitioners in Ireland in the best   interests   of our clients.   It's  intended  that  the  range  of practitioners  attending  will  be diverse and include a mix of solicitors, barristers  and  those  working in NGOs.  There is no charge for attendance and we would be happy to receive your suggestions regarding future topics for discussion.

The  Network  has been established to foster the sharing of legal knowledge between  refugee  and  immigration  practitioners  in  Ireland  in order to promote  excellence  in  the  representation of our clients.  The Network’s composition  is  intended  to  reflect  the  diverse  range  of experienced practitioners involved in the area, including solicitors, barristers, those working  in  NGOs  and  caseworkers.  The format of the network meetings is also intended to recognise the expertise and experience of the audience as well as the invited speakers and to facilitate conversation on important issues of relevance.  Therefore each month, following a talk by an invited speaker or speakers on a topic of particular interest to practitioners, there is an opportunity for discussion and questions.

Jacki Kelly and Caoimhe Sheridan, Coordinators of the ELENA Network in Ireland organize the topics with a refugee focus whilst Hilkka Becker and Caoimhe Sheridan organize the months with an immigration focus. Jacki is now on sabbatical and during this time Grainne Brophy will be taking her place. Emma Carey and Michael Quinlan from the Irish Refugee Council also provide assistance.
